Foundation for the Support of Ecological Initiatives

Fundacja Wspierania Inicjatyw Ekologicznych (Foundation for the Support of Ecological Initiatives –
FWIE) is Polish non-governmental organization established in 1989.
Mission:
• Identification of problems related with destructive human impact on environment,
• Finding ways to solve identified problems,
• Exchange information between different environmental initiatives and presentation of them,
• Good organization of the work (preparing of projects and human management),
• Supporting of implementation of the best solutions for Malopolska region as well as on national level.
Goals:
The goals of FWIE are activities for supporting of the common benefit by:
• improvement of state of the environment in Poland and the world;
• supporting of grassroots environmental movements;
• influence on environmental awareness of society;
• activity for environment, animals protection and protection of natural heritage;
• popularization and protection of consumers law;
• initiation and support of international cooperation for goals of FWIE;
• advancement of scientific researches tending to improvement of state of the environment,
• creating possibilities to development of eco- and agroturism;
• assistance in development of communities and local societies;
• science, education, learning and breeding;
• popularization and protection of human laws and civil freedom and activity for development of democracy;
• activity for European integration and for development of contacts and cooperation between societies;
• promotion and organization of voluntarism;
• technical, educational, informational and financial supporting of NGOs.
Main areas of activity:
- organization public raising awareness campaigns, workshops, seminars, conferences, training courses,
- advocacy environmental issues,
- consultation of the proposed legal regulations
- maintenance of working contacts with NGOs
- initiation of the international cooperation
One of the most important programme of FWIE is conducting own publishing house (since 1989) and development of Internet resources. Our most model and demonstrative activity is conducting of the biggest nation-wide environmental portal in Poland (www.zb.eco.pl), with over 70 000 unique visits per month. It’s the most popular portal on ecological issues. The goal of the portal is to exchange information between different environmental initiatives and presentation of them.
