Grasshopper no 1, Winter '93
includes more than 60 groups scattered all over Poland. They have no priority set goals and enjoy a high degree of autonomy. The membership is not very high, but they make up a national communication network. The Federation activities focus on many problems, including animal rights, vegetarianism, sustainable transport, waste management etc.
It has three young members organizing lectures. So far, there is little interest.
It was started in early 1990 and first acted as the REFA - St. Francesco of Assisi Ecological Movement. After merging with the "Wole byc" (I prefer to be) movement participants in the end of 1991, it took the present name. The Movement activities rely on the voluntary work. Following institutions cooperate: the Town Hall of Jaslo, Environment Protection Commission of the City Council of Jaslo, The Culture House of Jaslo and the Malopolska-Overijssel Interregional Cooperation and Cracow Group of the Green Federation.
We managed to organize several exhibitions, meetings and lectures as well as concerts, painting and drawing competition for schools and tree planting in the city and a sale of environment friendly products. Every year we organize the Earth Day in Jaslo. In September, we opened the first and only environmental library in the region.
Cooperating with the Environment Protection Commission of the City Council, we are introducing the municipal waste segregation and run the anti-incinerating campaign.
We participated in many demonstrations, "Dam the dam" and the No-incinerators campaign.
In the near future we are planning to focus on educating people about recycling, bicycle promotion and tree planting in and out Jaslo.
The Foundation is mainly interested in supporting the development of environmental groups and their initiatives in the Malopolska Region. The Foundation supplies the meritorical aid within the framework of its projects as well as financial, legal and administrative support. It also contributes to the training sessions for the NGOs members.

Public youth organization, founded in 1987. It was the first youth organization to appear during the perestroika and national renaissance. It united the young educated people of Lviv in their struggle for democracy, ecology and self-determination of the Ukrainian nation.
The organization has its representative in the Ukrainian Parliament and municipal government bodies.
The environmental division of the group each year organizes international expeditions on the Dniestr river. Water pollution is measured during those trips.
It is an independent non-governmental organization, registered by the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice on August 30, 1991, one week after the declaration of Ukrainian independence. Its purpose is to cooperate with scientists, government, industry and citizens in their efforts to improve the environment.
Today, it has 15 local branches throughout the country.
The EcoCentre president is Yuri U. Gleba, a distinguished scientist of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The Executive Council of the EcoCentre is engaged in strategic environmental planning and management.
The EcoCentre provides leadership and facilitates activities that promote environmental improvement through constructive actions of NGOs. By maintaining a close relationship with environmental improvement organizations, as well as members of Parliament and Government at all levels, the EcoCentre provides a path for the environmental groups to express their ideas to legislators and the general public.
The EcoCentre identifies national priorities for environmental protection, prepares and implements national and local projects, promotes virgin reserves end enlists scientists and experts to participate in environment related lawmaking. It also collects and coordinates non-governmental research, collects and sends information, organizes independent computer data banks and promotes the organization of the monitoring system.
The organization deals mostly with water pollution related problems. It closely cooperates with the Lviv University. The group has numerous ideas for solving problems, but it lacks money to implement them. It also has problems with getting the information.
